Educator

John K Miles has led education projects for London Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Sinfonia Viva, English National Opera, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, The Roundhouse, B Sharp, New Dimensions, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Aldeburgh Young Musicians, Southbank Sinfonia, Spitalfields Festival,  Jazzlines THSH, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Anvil Arts, La Folia, Create, Bath Festivals, and City of London Sinfonia.

John was a Peripatetic Instrumental Tutor 1993-2003, Classroom Music Teacher 2000-2, Music Theory Consultant for ABRSM 2010-11, and Visiting Professor on the Leadership Masters course at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama 2008-18. He is currently the Musical Director of YMM a Saturday music school of some 350 students in North London.

A creative vocal and instrumental project, inspired by 'Symphonic Poem' by Zou Jianping, commissioned for the concert finale of the Essex-Jiangsu Festival.

Composition and performance project for an open access youth choir drawn from local primary schools and 13 professional musicians ending in a multiple performances in 2019 at Derby Theatre & Darley Park.

Composition and performance project for 2 special needs schools in Thurrock alongside a full chamber orchestra.

 

First Access Leicester (2013)

Composition and performance project for 180 young instrumentalists and 12 professional musicians ending in a performance at De Montfort Hall.

An eclectic creative project, heavily influenced by Reggae and Ska, incorporating a community band, a professional band and a secondary school.
